Are gender roles changing?

In past decades men were always expected to carry themselves a certain way, like certain things and be a certain way. They were expected to be aggressive, like sports and take care of their family and things of that nature. Women were expected to know how to cook, take care of their children and husband.  With the turn of the century, it seems like societal norms are constantly changing, especially in the aspect of gender roles. Now more women are holding “so called” masculine jobs like CEO of companies and owning their own businesses, things that were thought to be only for men. More and more men on the other hand are doing “so called” feminine jobs like becoming nurses. Today more and more men are becoming house husbands and staying home and taking care of the household responsibilities, while the woman are the ones who are working and bringing home the paychecks. It was inevitable that women would begin to show that they can perform the many tasks that men do and at times even exceed expectations. For many years women have been fighting for equality and the opportunity to show that they are just as capable as men and things are starting to change in gender roles. Colleges now have more women than men and the percentage of women graduating and receiving degrees is growing higher than men every year.

Even though women and men are still not equal in many aspects, but women have shown that they are just as capable as men and they continue to fight for equality.
