Consumer motivation can also affect consumer behavior. Motivations are the driving forces behind human action as consumers are driven to address real needs. In my case, I was hungry and exposed to the KFC advertisement so much that it affected my decision on what I wanted to eat.
Along with motivation, you have to distinctions, utilitarian and hedonic. Utilitarian motivation involves a desire to acquire products that can be used to accomplish something and hedonic motivation involves a desire to experience something gratifying. In my case again, both utilitarian and hedonic motivation can be applied to my situation. Acquiring the meal from KFC accomplished the goal of filling up my stomach and it also gave me a gratifying feeling because I wanted to experience the new meal from KFC.
I do believe that advertisement plays a major role on how consumer’s behavior and the way advertising is becoming such a huge aspect of our world; it will only continue to influence consumer behavior even more.
